La Policía Nacional destruyó un campamento minero en la zona denominada Santa Ana, ubicada al interior de la quebrada Honda, en el distrito de Marcará, provincia de Carhuaz. El referido lugar es la comprensión del área natural protegida Parque Nacional Huascarán, región Áncash.
La operación permitió la destrucción de este campamento minero que, al parecer, se había instalado que ocupaba un terreno de 250 metros cuadrados de la zona.
En la intervención contra la minería ilegal se halló nueve módulos de madera en estado de destrucción reciente.
También se encontró una bocamina de aproximadamente 500 metros de profundidad, en cuyo interior había 50 colchones, 20 camarotes, 100 frazadas, herramientas de uso minero como lampas, carretillas.
Además, tres coches mineros, tubería de material de polietileno, entre otros.
No se intervino a ninguna persona, pues pese a la búsqueda por parte de las autoridades no se halló a nadie cerca de la zona del campamento. Agentes policiales junto con el fiscal adjunto de la Fiscalía Especializada en Materia Ambiental de Huaraz (Áncash),
procedieron a incinerar todo lo encontrado. La intervención contó con la presencia de Carlos Brito Cordero, representante del área Técnica Minera de la Dirección Regional de Energía y Minas de Áncash; Laura Lucía Huamán Negreiros, especialista en manejo de Recursos Naturales del Parque Nacional Huascarán así como Isidro Gonzáles de Paz, vigilante del Parque Nacional Huascarán.
También participaron en la acción doce integrantes de la comunidad campesina de Vicos, quienes denunciaron el funcionamiento ilegal de esta mina.
