Como resultado de los lineamientos políticos y la responsabilidad social asumida por el gobernador regional, Ricardo Chavarría Oria, la región Lima ocupa el tercer lugar a nivel nacional en el barrido de vacunación contra el sarampión y la polio.
Para ello, la Dirección Regional de Salud garantizó el abastecimiento de las dosis en los 328 establecimientos hospitalarios, logrando alcanzar la meta programada en un 100%.
La ministra de Salud, Zulema Tomás Gonzales, ha expresado su reconocimiento al trabajo desplegado por los profesionales asistenciales, quienes comprometidos con esta jornada, efectuaron una intervención casa por casa en los 128 distritos del ámbito regional.
Es así, que se ha logrado inmunizar a un total de 146 mil 215 niños y niñas, entre los 2 a 10 años de edad, garantizando su protección contra estas enfermedades mortales.
Cabe señalar, que el Minsa ha dispuesto una extensión de la campaña por un lapso de 15 días, para que los engreídos de los hogares que hasta la fecha no han sido vacunados, puedan acercarse a los recintos de salud más cercano.
