Sin palabras y absorto quedó un hombre de la localidad de San Luis (estado de Misuri, Estados Unidos ) al encontrar el cadáver momificado de una bebé en la nevera de la casa en donde vivía con su madre.
El caso se agravó luego de que Adam Smith le dijera a la policía sobre sus sospechas: él piensa que el cuerpo que encontró es de su hermana mayor que murió hace 37 años.
De acuerdo con lo informado por la cadena de noticias KSDK (afiliada a la NBC), Smith se topó con tal hallazgo cuando desocupaba su vivienda porque quería mudarse a otra ciudad tras la muerte de su madre quien perdió la vida por un cáncer de garganta.
La versión de Smith se basa en que fue su propia madre quien habría puesto en proceso de momificación al cuerpo de su hermana y, cada vez que preguntaba qué era el bulto que estaba en la refrigeradora, ella le respondía que era «un pastel especial».
«Tengo 37 años y he estado en (ese) congelador durante 37 años y siempre me dijeron que era un pastel de bodas», dijo en entrevista a la KSDK luego de consignar que los restos aún tenían «piel, cabello y todo».
Las acusaciones hacia su madre fallecida son tales que Smith pide que se esclarezca el caso lo más pronto posible. «¿Quién tiene absolutamente a su propio hijo en una caja durante tanto tiempo? Solo tengo muchos pensamientos. Es una locura», declaró.
La Policía Metropolitana de St. Louis ha tomado el caso y, actualmente, se encuentran haciendo las prueba de ADN para corroborar si el cuerpo le pertenece a la hermana mayor de Smith.
