Al mediodía de este viernes 28 de febrero, el número de casos de coronavirus en el planeta aumentó a 84.117 personas y causó la muerte de 2.870 personas. China continental, donde se declaró la epidemia a fines de diciembre, cuenta con 78.824 casos y 2.788 fallecidos.
En el resto del mundo, están afectados cerca de 60 países y territorios, con 5.293 casos y 82 muertos.
China (sin considerar Hong Kong y Macao), donde eclosionó la epidemia a fines de diciembre, ha contabilizado 78.497 casos y entre ellos 2.747 muertes. Se detectaron 433 nuevas infecciones en 24 horas.
En otras partes del mundo se registraban 4.063 casos, con 66 muertos y 863 nuevos infectados.
La propagación de la enfermedad se ha vuelto imparable para la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) y diversos Gobiernos del mundo, como el de Italia, país en el que se viven horas traumáticas tras el aumento de casos de personas infectadas de coronavirus y fallecidos.
El caso de Nigeria es el primero en el África subsahariana. Hasta ahora se habían registrado solo dos casos en África, uno en Egipto y otro en Argelia.
Desde la víspera a la misma hora fueron detectadas 1.296 nuevas contaminaciones.
